Fall Into Fun with an Autumn Myrtle Beach Vacation

Chauncey Smith   |   28 Sep 2020

We all know that Myrtle Beach is an amazing spring and summer vacation destination, but during the fall months there are still tons of great things to do all around the Grand Strand! From pier fishing to hiking to golf, your fall Myrtle Beach getaway is sure to be jam packed with endless ways to enjoy your stay. Here are some fantastic leisure and entertainment options for your fall vacation to Myrtle Beach.

Pier Fishing

The Grand Strand is home to several piers that stretch out into the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean. These piers offer visitors with great opportunities to cast away and enjoy a great morning or afternoon of fishing. On the north end of the Grand Strand, Apache Pier and Cherry Grove Pier feature full-service bait and tackle shops where you can shop for or rent gear to take a shot at pulling in sea bass, flounder or mackerel. Further south, Springmaid Pier is back in business after being destroyed by a hurricane in 2016. Additionally, the Garden City Pier offers guests a fantastic spot to fish along the southern end of the Grand Strand, with a well-stocked tackle shop offering gear for rent.

Hiking

With the cool breezes of fall sweeping across the Grand Strand, an afternoon hike is a great way to scope out the coastal landscape of Myrtle Beach and even catch a few glimpses at local wildlife. Myrtle Beach State Park offers two beginner level trails measuring about a half-mile each, twisting through the coastal forest of oak, wax myrtle and magnolia trees, around area ponds and eventually ending along the sandy Myrtle Beach shoreline. Further south in Murrells Inlet, Huntington Beach State Park is a premier spot for bird lovers, and a stroll down one of their two available hiking trails will likely put you in the viewing range of egrets, herons and osprey. The fall season leading into winter migration is considered the most active time to view birds, and you might even sight a bald eagle, who have been known to pass through Huntington Beach State Park!

Radical Ropes Adventure Park

Short of hopping on a plane, the best way to soar over the Grand Strand is by zipline, so if you’re ready to inject some adrenaline into your vacation head to the south end of Myrtle Beach and visit Radical Ropes Adventure Park! Radical Ropes is open every weekend during the fall, challenging visitors with their Aerial Adventure experience, climbing up to 55 feet among the trees and traversing various obstacles along the course. They also offer a kids course that is perfect for pint-sized adventurers. In addition to the ropes course, Radical Ropes features multiple ziplines to glide through the air among the canopy of trees. On top of all these great features, you can also check out their huge climbing wall and Leap of Faith attraction, daring you to take a 65-foot plunge, with a belay system engaging and lowering you down just before reaching the ground.

With all these activities, your fall Myrtle Beach vacation is sure to be filled with fun and excitement! Beach Vacations partners with the Grand Strand’s top resorts like Myrtlewood Villas, Atlantica Resort, Myrtle Beach Resort and Barefoot Resort to provide guests with amazing accommodations, all available at unbelievably affordable rates.
